Associate General Counsel
Annemarie Boyan is an experienced health care attorney providing legal services to Penn State and Penn State Health, the University’s academic medical center. She previously provided regulatory, transactional, research, litigation and general health care legal advice in various capacities at Rutgers University as Deputy General Counsel for Healthcare, at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia as an Associate General Counsel, and at Temple University Health System as Senior Counsel. Annemarie began her legal career as a medical malpractice litigator in Pennsylvania and New Jersey before becoming a health care attorney.
In addition to her role as an attorney, Annemarie has been an adjunct professor in the Drexel University College of Medicine and the Seton Hall University School of Law, instructing on topics including clinical research/FDA law, the law of patient care, and regulatory compliance for health care providers. Annemarie has also been a speaker at numerous regional and national conferences, and has conducted grand rounds seminars, resident lectures, and staff training on various medical/legal issues over the course of her health care legal career. She has edited a book chapter related to representing hospitals and health systems for the American Health Lawyers Association, and co-authored A Practical Guide to Informed Consent.
Annemarie is a graduate of Temple University (Magna Cum Laude), and the Temple University School of Law, and is licensed to practice in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania. She has held memberships with the Temple American Inn of Court, the American Health Lawyers Association, the National Association of College and University Attorneys, the Pennsylvania and New Jersey Bar Associations, and the Food and Drug Law Institute.
